Alyssa Solitario is an artist who graduated with a BFA from the Ontario College of Arts and Design University (OCAD U). She studied Drawing and Painting with a specialization in Digital Painting and Expanded Animation. Alyssa focuses on illustration as well as the visual development of live-action and animated films. She works between analogue and digital media when creating her illustrations, concept, and character designs.
She has written and illustrated a children’s book called Shoot as well as worked on a project that focused on the visual development of live-action films. After her studies Alyssa hopes to work as an illustrator and a visual development artist for film and/or TV and to be part of creating memorable stories and characters.
As an artist, she is very driven by creating characters and storytelling. The digital paintings and illustrations she creates are often inspired by her Filipino culture and are rooted from her personal experiences. She produces such work as she wishes to contribute to adding more diversity in the media like film and animation. Though what she creates is inspired by her culture and experiences, they still tell universal stories that she hopes crosses all cultures and that anyone, from anywhere, can relate to.
